Families for Depression Awareness is looking for a temporary, part-time Outreach Coordinator to promote our Teen Depression and Coping with Stress and Depression programs and to maintain our social media channels. Entry-level position, part-time employee
20-30 hours per week, flexible daytime hours, Waltham, MA

Organization Overview
Families for Depression Awareness (FFDA) is a nonprofit organization that helps families recognize and cope with depressive disorders to get people well and prevent suicides. We do this through education, training, and support.

Position Summary
The Outreach Coordinator supports the Teen Depression and Adult/Workplace Depression programs by identifying and initiating contact with relevant organizations and individuals to cultivate interest in and promotion of our webinars and workshops; assists with scheduling and logistics for webinars and workshops; and develops and posts content on FFDA’s social media sites. The Outreach Coordinator is a high-energy self-starter who communicates easily with others and is able to pick up the phone and talk to people. Excellent interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills are essential.


Teen Depression and Adult/Workplace Depression Programs

  • Develop outreach lists: perform research to identify organizations and individuals relevant to the Teen Depression and/or Adult/Workplace Depression workshops and webinars
  • Generate and follow up on leads to promote FFDA’s programs, performing direct outreach via phone and email
  • Maintain records of outreach efforts for relationship-building, future programs, and potential financial support
  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics for workshops and webinars
  • Provide other program support as needed

Social Media

  • Participate in communications strategy planning for upcoming programs, organization priorities, and external events
  • Schedule, update, and maintain social media and blog content: create blogs, Facebook posts, YouTube videos, tweets, articles, and other communications to distribute and promote content and programming


Our ideal Outreach Coordinator will have:

  • Passion for the cause of advancing non-profit organizations and helping people with depressive disorders
  • Education and/or experience with public relations and/or communications
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, including the ability to engage with people over the phone and through email
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office applications, social media platforms, and Apple computers; web editor and database experience are highly useful)
  • Knowledge of or experience with mental health in a professional capacity (preferred)

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
