It is truly astounding how much work goes into putting together an event! Families for Depression Awareness will kick off May 2012's Mental Health Awareness month by bringing people together to raise awareness of depressive disorders, reduce stigma, and honor those that have been lost to suicide.
In the past month we've recruited an amazing group of people who have volunteered their time and their skills to help us make the event happen. While we still need to recruit more people, we had our first leadership committee meeting yesterday at a local restaurant. We had a successful and productive meeting, and it was great to finally meet everyone in person.
We've already put together a budget, a timeline, and know what the mission of the event is, but there is so much more to do. Right now our focus is on securing a location, finalizing the event name, and getting more people involved. We're confident that the team we've already managed to recruit will help us develop a memorable and successful event – and it feels awesome to finally get started!
