We recently had a meeting at the McGovern Institute at MIT and have such a wealth of new opportunities to pursue. Julie Totten, president and founder of Families for Depression Awareness, really is pushing for a brain scan that can show whether or not someone has depression or bipolar disorder, and to our immense satisfaction, they have already started talking about it with their researchers! Wouldn’t that be wonderful! They are doing groundbreaking work there and we are thrilled to be a participant in their public programs. Stay tuned, because they are thinking about how we can solicit people for some of their imaging studies.
And just the other day, Julie Totten attended the 1Mind4Research Forum here in Boston, which brought together every renowned brain scientist for a series of talks about cutting edge research. Patrick Kennedy is spearheading the push to get more funding for brain research, citing the need to address all kinds of brain diseases and disorders. We're thrilled at the attention finally being paid to mental health.
